Katia Neisel (Ekaterina Snigirevskaia) is a photographer and painter based in France. She was born in 1989 in Leningrad, USSR, and grew up in an artistic family where art was a way of life. Her artistic path began with portrait photography, which she pursued from a young age and later expanded to include nature photography and painting.

Her work explores transformation through the impact of place. Working in long-term projects and series, she combines photography and abstract painting within unified bodies of work to explore their interconnection. As part of some projects, she creates mixed-media drawings and then photographs them while still wet, using the photographic image as another layer in the process rather than a simple record.

Through photography, painting, and their dialogue, she investigates inner experience and transformation, seeking the subtle interweaving of shapes and states. Inspired by Nature’s wisdom and the quiet mysticism of Asian culture, her work moves between the visible and the felt, between external landscape and internal processes of becoming.
